Writing cursive s and S
The letter examples and writing notes on this page use Playwrite US Trad. The Modern option changes the worksheet model; some letter shapes and joins are different.
The upper curve of lowercase s rises a little above the midline in Traditional. In Modern, it sits nearer the midline.
s finishes with an upstroke from the baseline that leads straight into the next letter, so you keep the pencil down through the word.
Watch the difference between s and r. Writing them side by side on one row helps.
Capital S reaches around the top line; its main body stays above the baseline.
